Stars of the Night

Songs and Violin works by Ralph Vaughan Williams

This CD highlights both Vaughan Williams’ skill in setting English poetry and prose to music and his abiding love of the violin, which he described as his ‘musical salvation’. For many listeners, the highlight of the new disc will be his arrangement of the ever-popular A Lark Ascending for violin and piano. Only the second recording in this format. Also on the CD is the beautiful Six Studies in English Folk Song (1926) alongside the world-premiere recording of the Concerto Accademico (1925), arranged for violin and piano by Constant Lambert.
